Do you have a favorite room? Why?

The kitchen, it really is the heart of the home.

Do you have a favorite window you like to look out? Why?

I love sitting in the music room (living room) drinking my morning coffee and watching the birds and enjoying the sweeping views of El Capitan. Magical.

What will you miss most about this home?

This home really is great for entertaining and has such good flow. And we really love how much “outdoor privacy” we have. Not to mention, We love how private and separate the master bedroom is.

What fruit trees/vegetables/herbs do you have growing in the yard?

Lime tree, lavender, and rosemary plus a raised vegetable garden box, where we’ve grown lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, squash, cilantro, basil etc.  It is so nice to be able to pick fresh herbs, vegetables or limes from the garden when we are cooking.

What do you love most about your community?

Lovely and friendly neighborhood with annual neighborhood block parties. Also it’s a mature neighborhood with established landscaping, jacaranda trees, and larger lots.  We love our evening walks.

What things do you love about Rancho San Diego/El Cajon/La Mesa?

We love our location with easy access to both I-8 and the 94… we have all the convenience of La Mesa and El Cajon and can still be downtown at Padres game in 20 minutes (yes we timed it!)

What are the closest parks/things to do in Rancho San Diego/El Cajon/La Mesa?

We enjoy Mount Helix Park, the large fenced in dog park at Wells Park, and walking our dog through Damon Lane county park; which always feels like it’s our secret place.

Anything else that you think a buyer would love about the area?

We are really in the center of it all. We can, in minutes, easily be in downtown El Cajon or Main Street La Mesa or shopping in Rancho San Diego. And best thing is no through streets so our neighborhood is quiet.

Nestled between El Cajon and La Mesa is the family-friendly community of Mt. Helix-Horizon Hills. Close to the trolley and Routes 8, 94 and 125, there is easy access to downtown San Diego and the beaches are less than 30 minutes away. Cuyamaca College is a short distance away, as is the Water Conservation Garden and The Heritage of the Americas Museum.

Homes built on the hills offer panoramic views of canyons, hillsides, the mountains north to Ramona and El Cajon Valley. Nearby is Mt. Helix Park, which offers year-round events from Helix Yoga, three days a week, various lecture series and a Kid’s Art Camp called Art in the Park. This hilltop is home to a wide variety of established native habitat and wildlife.

For those who like to walk, jog, or cycle in a serene setting, Lake Murray features a 6.4-mile round-trip path around the lake. Fishing is permitted, and visitors have access to barbecues and picnic tables for a peaceful, relaxing afternoon. For a scenic hike with your leashed pup head on over to the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge-Sweetwater River Trail, with an entrance marked by the 1929 Historic Sweetwater River Bridge. A short 2.3-mile hike, it offers a surprising amount of quiet solitude in spite of how close it is to civilization.

Residents don’t have to travel far to shop. El Cajon’s Parkway Plaza, an indoor mall with over 170 stores, is anchored by JC Penney, Macy’s and Walmart, as well as an 18-screen movie theater. Grossmont Center Mall, an outdoor mall, boasts a Restoration Hardware Outlet, Pier One Imports, Cost Plus World Market, Trader Joes, San Diego-favorite Casa De Pico and a  10-screen movie theater.

Downtown El Cajon and La Mesa Village are both a quick drive away and have gone through revitalization in recent years, bringing back an old-time yet trendy village feel. Browse shops and galleries on Main Street in El Cajon and La Mesa. Enjoy a variety of dining choices from fine dining to local coffee houses.

An established neighborhood, Mt. Helix-Horizon Hills offers an environment for couples and families who want to live in a convenient, suburban neighborhood.
