San Diego Black Film Festival | Jan. 30 – Feb. 3
In order to spotlight African American & African Diaspora Cinema, we screen more than one hundred films each year in categories including comedy, drama, documentary, animation, LGBT, horror, religious, foreign/African diaspora, shorts, features and music.

SDSU Writers Conference | Jan. 31 – Feb. 2

Youth Fishing Derby Seminar & Campout | Feb. 1 
Learn to fish from the pros and watch demonstrations on how to properly rig a line the night before the 24th Annual Youth Fishing Derby. Pizza dinner will be served for attendees at 5pm, with the fishing seminar immediately following at 5:30pm.

Lake Poway Youth Fishing Derby | Feb. 2 
Fishing, prizes, entertainment, games, bounce houses, a free barbecue lunch and more! Winners must be present to claim prizes at the awards ceremony, which is scheduled for 1pm.

Susan G. Komen Pink in the Rink | Feb. 2 
The San Diego Gulls will be offering fun and exciting things throughout the evening, including a silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind Pink in the Rink Game Jerseys! 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Komen San Diego!

Burn Run 5K | Feb. 2 
Join the Burn Institute in promoting Burn Awareness Week and raising funds to support burn prevention education and burn survivor support programs. We love pets but please leave them at home as they are not permitted at this event.

Senior Health & Wellness Expo | Feb. 2

Lunar New Year at SeaWorld | Feb. 2 – 18 
Enjoy a riveting Chinese acrobat show, watch lion dancers perform and take in all of the wonderful sights, sounds, tastes and aromas characteristic of Asia.

Cardiff Kook Run | Feb. 3 
The Cardiff Kook Run offers a 5K, 10K and costume contest. The course starts under the world-famous Encinitas sign on historic HWY 101. This scenic loop passes by the famous Cardiff Kook statue (The Magic Carpet Ride), rises above some of the most popular surf breaks in the world and heads down to Cardiff State Beach.

San Diego Improv Festival | Feb. 7 – 10 
The festival will offer professional workshops and performances from a selection of hand-picked improv teams from cities around the country.

San Diego International Jewish Film Festival | Feb. 7 – 17 
The festival annually showcases a selection of the best contemporary Jewish-related films in multiple genres and aims to educate and illuminate the diverse Jewish experience through evocative, independent narrative and documentary films.

Kuumba Fest | Feb. 8 – 10 
Black 2 Excellence Kuumba (Swahili for creativity) Fest brings together community leaders, local performers and celebrities. From gospel to hip-hop and theater to dance, San Diego’s Kuumba Fest showcases arts that celebrate Black American culture in all its variety.

San Diego Tet Festival | Feb. 8 – 10
Join us in welcoming the Year of the Pig! This event will feature the Miss Vietnam San Diego Pageant, lion dancing, beer garden, carnival rides, dancing contests, games, non-stop entertainment, food vendors and more!

Escondido Chocolate Festival | Feb. 9 
Stroll through Downtown Escondido’s various restaurants, shops and spas while sampling chocolates paired with local fine wines and craft beers. Take a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride down Historic Grand Avenue.

Brewbies Beer Festival | Feb. 9 
Enjoy an array of outstanding, interesting, unique and signature PINK beers from over 40 of the best breweries around! As always, we donate 100% of the proceeds from Brewbies to the Keep A Breast Foundation to support their mission of empowering young people around the world with breast health education and support.

Mermaid Half Marathon San Diego | Feb. 9 
Mermaid returns to Mission Bay for a scenic women’s 5K, 10K and Half Marathon. The course features beautiful views and the majority of the course takes place on closed roads. The flat course is ideal for both runners and walkers. Mermaids receive a stylish race shirt, finisher medal and necklace!

Cabrillo Sunrise 5K Fun Run & Walk | Feb. 9 
Spectacular ocean views in a unique setting at an hour of the day when the park is normally closed! Plus, your participation helps with the parks many programs, including science education for underprivileged children.

Coronado Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Run | Feb. 10 
Each 10K, 5K and 1-mile participant receives a high-quality t-shirt, finisher’s medal, continental breakfast and access to the beer garden. Hand-carved tikis will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category, men and women.

Sweethearts Ball | Feb. 15 
Sweethearts young and old are invited to attend an evening of dancing and light hors d’oeuvres. Photo backdrops will be available so don’t forget to bring your camera!

5K Paw Walk in the Garden | Feb. 16 
The Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) and San Diego Botanic Garden join paws to raise funds to support people, plants and animals. There will be pet products, food (for people), treats (for dogs), lots of great information for dog lovers and (of course) dogs and puppies!

Chula Vista Champions Celebration | Feb. 16 
We will award those who have been recognized in the last five years either locally, regionally, nationally or internationally for their achievements. These champions can represent Chula Vista in academics, sports, community service, cultural arts and more. You can submit an individual or a team, class or other group.

Chinese New Year Fair | Feb. 16-17 
We will have traditional and cultural entertainment, lions dances, kung fu, traditional instruments, classic Chinese dances and so much more!

American Red Cross Blood Drive | Feb. 21 
Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.

ConDor 2019 | Feb. 22 – 24 
Through the Looking Glass: Alternate Realities ConDor is San Diego’s long-running Science Fiction & Fantasy convention. Enjoy panel discussions, classes, workshops, art shows, vendor halls, karaoke, dance and much more!

Silver Bay Kennel Dog Show | Feb. 22 – 24 
AKC all-breed dog shows, conformation, obedience, rally and agility trials. AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing (Saturday 1pm) and AKC Trick Dog Title (Saturday, following CGC Testing). Dog Show Tour at 10am. Meet 50 AKC breeds (Seaside Pavilion) from 10am – 2pm. Over 50 doggie boutiques selling pet supplies and gifts.

Sycamore Canyon Trail Races | Feb. 23
Registration Requirements: 100k solo runners must have completed at least one 50k+ race. The 100k course is approximately 102KM and the 50k Course is approximately 51KM. More for your money!

Black History Month | Feb. 23
The Church of the Loving God (COLG) Choir, Errrrverybodi Line Dancers, Storyteller: Alyce Smith Cooper, Junkyard Dog Dance Crew, Christian Rapper: Charles Egypt, T.R.U.T.H. Gospel Mime Group, African drummer Nana Yaw Asiedu, Spoken Word with Gregory McKnight Jr., Poet Tomas Gayton. Special Guest Speaker: Rev. Richard Lawrence, Local Author of Light, Bright, Damn Near White and civil rights activist. Music provided by DJ Leon Ferguson. There will be vendors with raffle items and soul food.

San Diego Camp Fair | Feb. 23 
Want to find a summer camp but don’t know where to start? Be sure to bring your family and friends as you go booth-to-booth meeting camp directors, asking questions, gathering promotional materials and learning about programs. We’ll have games, food and prizes, too, plus lots of activities for the kids and the opportunity to win a free camp session from participating camps.

East County Honors Annual Awards Gala | Feb. 23 
Honoring businesses and individuals for their accomplishments and recognizing the tremendous and lasting impact they’ve made on our community. East County Honors also serves as a fundraiser, raising money to fund community programs and services supported by the Chamber throughout the year.

San Diego Bird Festival | Feb. 27-Mar. 3 
We’re celebrating the birds and habitats of our county, which truly offer some of the best birding in the United States. Know that your experience is giving something back to the birds: the proceeds of this festival support the education, conservation and sanctuary programs of San Diego Audubon Society.
