FREE Youth Fishing Derby Seminar/Campout   Feb. 2
Learn to fish from the pros and watch demonstrations on how to properly rig a line the night before the 23rd Annual Youth Fishing Derby. Pizza dinner will be served with the fishing seminar immediately following. Participants and their families are invited to spend the night for only $15 a car.

Lake Poway Youth Fishing Derby   Feb. 3
Fishing, prizes, entertainment, games, bounce houses, a free barbecue lunch and more! Join the City of Poway and Captain Ron Baker. Freshly stocked with 1,500 pounds of rainbow trout, the lake will be open only to youth ages 15 and younger. Winners must be present to claim prizes at the awards ceremony.

Sandbag Give-a-Way Event   Feb. 3
Sandbags will be available per event to Encinitas residents (no contractors) on a first come, first serve basis. Residents must provide photo ID and show proof of residency. 10 filled sandbags will be given for each address/property (while supply lasts). Residents must self-load and transport the sandbags.

Save A Heart Save A Life 5K   Feb. 3
The mission of the Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation is to influence families, educators, elected officials and the medical community to recognize the incidence of youth SCA/D and the importance of preventative heart screenings, and to support equipping schools with automated external defibrillators (AED) plus CPR/AED training.

XTERRA Mission Gorge Trail Run   Feb. 4
Features the ‘thousand steps’ and the 5k has some great trails around the old dam. The event field is limited, so enter early! San Diego Jewish Film Festival   Feb 8-18
The Festival features San Diego film premieres, international guest filmmakers, and juried and audience choice awards. Screenings will be shown at five locations. This year the Festival will showcase a total of 58 films of the best contemporary Jewish themed films from around the world celebrating life, human rights, and freedom of expression.

Lunar New Year Festival   Feb. 9-11

SD Kuumba Fest   Feb. 22-25
From gospel to hip-hop and theater to dance, San Diego’s Kuumba Fest present a wide showcase of arts that celebrate Black American culture in all its variety. Educational workshops, hip-hop dance and speech competitions, performances of plays, Late Night Live (San Diego’s version of Late Night at the Apollo), and as always, a gospel concert finale.

San Diego Winter Brew Fest   Feb. 24
This special 1-day only fest will celebrate craft beverages from California and beyond and features live local music, food, and other vendors. This event benefits Outdoor Outreach and the San Diego Mountain Biking Association (SDMBA).

Chinese New Year Food & Cultural Fair   Feb. 24-25
