Mira Mesa is an inviting neighborhood, within the city limits of San Diego. Bordered by Carmel Valley on the west, Scripps Ranch on the east, and Rancho Peñasquitos on the north, and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on the south, it has easy access to Routes 15 and 805. Downtown San Diego and Torrey Pines beach are both only 25 minutes away.

Mira Mesa began as a test area for the U.S. Army during World War II. The Navy also built an auxiliary landing field, called Hourglass Field because of its shape. Mira Mesa became a residential community in the late 1960s during a housing boom. It was the northernmost community within the San Diego city limits at the time. Most of its early residents were members of the military. In the 1990s, the population expanded due to the growth of tech and biotech industries in nearby Sorrento Valley, and major  employers, such as Qualcomm, UC San Diego, and MCAS Miramar. Today, it is home to approximately 80,000 people.

Residents don’t have far to travel to shop. Along Mira Mesa Boulevard, one will find stores such as    Target, Vons, CVS, Home Depot, Best Buy, and restaurants, such as Mimi’s, Buca di Beppo, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, Islands, and a variety of ethnic food. Movie lovers can catch a film at one of the 18 screens at Edwards Cinema, which features stadium seating.

Part of the San Diego Unified School District, Mira Mesa has seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and Mira Mesa High School, as well as Miramar College.

An established neighborhood, Mira Mesa offers a pleasant environment for singles, couples, and families with children who want to live in a convenient, suburban neighborhood close to everything San Diego has to offer.
